  1. 102:1

    أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

    Al haaku mut takathur

    Bermegah-megahan telah melalaikan kamu,

  2. 102:2

    حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ

    Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir

    sampai kamu masuk ke dalam kubur.

  3. 102:3

    كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

    Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

    Janganlah begitu, kelak kamu akan mengetahui (akibat perbuatanmu itu),

  4. 102:4

    ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

    Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon

    dan janganlah begitu, kelak kamu akan mengetahui.

  5. 102:5

    كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ

    Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen

    Janganlah begitu, jika kamu mengetahui dengan pengetahuan yang yakin,

  6. 102:6

    لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ

    Latara-wun nal jaheem

    niscaya kamu benar-benar akan melihat neraka Jahiim,

  7. 102:7

    ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ

    Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen

    dan sesungguhnya kamu benar-benar akan melihatnya dengan 'ainul yaqin.

  8. 102:8

    ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

    Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem

    kemudian kamu pasti akan ditanyai pada hari itu tentang kenikmatan (yang kamu megah-megahkan di dunia itu).

At-Takathur, the Rivalry, warns against being consumed by piling up wealth and competing in worldly gain until the grave. It states plainly that people will be questioned about the blessings they enjoyed, and reminds them that if they truly knew the reality of the Hereafter, they would not be so distracted.
