    About Surah Al-Fatihah

    Al-Fatihah, the Opening, is the first surah of the Quran and the one Muslims recite in every unit of every prayer. In seven short verses it praises Allah as the Lord of all worlds, the Most Gracious and Most Merciful, and Master of the Day of Judgment. It then turns into a direct request: to be guided along the straight path, the path of those Allah has blessed. It reads like the perfect opening prayer, which is exactly how it is used.

    1. 1:1

      بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

      Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

      KWA JINA LA MWENYEZI MUNGU MWINGI WA REHEMA MWENYE KUREHEMU.

    2. 1:2

      ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

      Alhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen

      Sifa njema zote ni za Mwenyezi Mungu, Mola Mlezi wa viumbe vyote;

    3. 1:3

      ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

      Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem

      Mwingi wa Rehema Mwenye Kurehemu;

    4. 1:4

      مَٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

      Maaliki Yawmid-Deen

      Mwenye Kumiliki Siku ya Malipo.

    5. 1:5

      إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

      Iyyaaka na'budu wa lyyaaka nasta'een

      Wewe tu tunakuabudu, na Wewe tu tunakuomba msaada.

    6. 1:6

      ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

      Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqeem

      Tuongoe njia iliyo nyooka,

    7. 1:7

      صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

      Siraatal-lazeena an'amta 'alaihim ghayril-maghdoobi 'alaihim wa lad-daaalleen

      Njia ya ulio waneemesha, siyo ya walio kasirikiwa, wala walio potea.
