Part of verse 156 of Surah Al-Baqarah, the words said at times of loss and hardship.
It means 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him we return.' The verse describes the patient ones who say these words when struck by difficulty, and the next verses promise them blessings and mercy from their Lord. These words are said by Muslims around the world when they hear of a death or a calamity.
- 2:156
Allazeena izaaa asaabathum museebatun qaalooo innaa lillaahi wa innaaa ilaihi raaji'oon
Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."
