    About Surah Ash-Shams

    Ash-Shams, the Sun, opens with a series of oaths by the sun, the moon, the day, and the night, building to the central truth: that the one who purifies his soul succeeds, and the one who corrupts it fails. It recalls the people of Thamud who killed the she-camel and met their ruin.

    1. 91:1

      وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا

      Wash shamsi wa duhaa haa

      சூரியன் மீதும், அதன் பிரகாசத்தின் மீதும் சத்தியமாக

    2. 91:2

      وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا

      Wal qamari izaa talaa haa

      (பின்) அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து வரும் சந்திரன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    3. 91:3

      وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا

      Wannahaari izaa jallaa haa

      (சூரியனால்) பகல் வெளியாகும்போது, அதன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    4. 91:4

      وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا

      Wallaili izaa yaghshaa haa

      (அப்பகலை) மூடிக்கொள்ளும் இரவின் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    5. 91:5

      وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا

      Wassamaaa'i wa maa banaahaa

      வானத்தின் மீதும், அதை(ஒழுங்குற) அமைந்திருப்பதின் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    6. 91:6

      وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا

      Wal ardi wa maa tahaahaa

      பூமியின் மீதும், இன்னும் அதை விரித்ததின் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    7. 91:7

      وَنَفْسٍۢ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا

      Wa nafsinw wa maa sawwaahaa

      ஆத்மாவின் மீதும், அதை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தியவன் மீதும் சத்தியமாக-

    8. 91:8

      فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا

      Fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa

      அப்பால், அவன் (அல்லாஹ்) அதற்கு அதன் தீமையையும், அதன் நன்மையையும் உணர்த்தினான்.

    9. 91:9

      قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا

      Qad aflaha man zakkaahaa

      அதை (ஆத்மாவை)ப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கியவர் திடமாக வெற்றியடைந்தார்.

    10. 91:10

      وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا

      Wa qad khaaba man dassaahaa

      ஆனால் எவன் அதை(ப் பாவத்தில்) புகுத்தினானோ அவன் திட்டமாகத் தோல்வி அடைந்தான்.

    11. 91:11

      كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ

      Kazzabat Samoodu bi taghwaahaaa

      'ஸமூது' (கூட்டத்தினர்) தங்கள் அக்கிரமத்தினால் (ஸாலிஹ் நபியைப்) பொய்ப்பித்தனர்.

    12. 91:12

      إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا

      Izim ba'asa ashqaahaa

      அவர்களில் கேடுகெட்ட ஒருவன் விரைந்து முன் வந்தபோது,

    13. 91:13

      فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا

      Faqaala lahum Rasoolul laahi naaqatal laahi wa suqiyaahaa

      அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதர் (ஸாலிஹ்) அவர்களை நோக்கி: "இப் பெண் ஒட்டகம் அல்லாஹ்வுடையது, இது தண்ணீர் அருந்த(த் தடை செய்யாது) விட்டு விடுங்கள்" என்று கூறினார்.

    14. 91:14

      فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا

      Fakazzaboohu fa'aqaroohaa fadamdama 'alaihim Rabbuhum bizambihim fasaw waahaa

      ஆனால், அவர்கள் அவரைப் பொய்ப்பித்து, அதன் கால் நரம்பைத் தறித்து விட்டனர் - ஆகவே, அவர்களின் இந்தப் பாவத்தின் காரணமாக அவர்களுடைய இறைவன் அவர்கள் மீது வேதனையை இறக்கி, அவர்கள் யாவரையும் (அழித்துச்) சரியாக்கி விட்டான்.

    15. 91:15

      وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا

      Wa laa yakhaafu'uqbaahaa

      அதன் முடிவைப் பற்றி அவன் பயப்படவில்லை.
